Clinical Pilates is an extension of traditional Pilates regularly used by our Physiotherapy team. It is a very effective treatment tool, backed by evidence, and tailored to meet your needs. Afterall we are all unique, so generic “one size fits all” exercises are far less likely to help you reduce your pain and achieve your health goals.
Clinical Pilates allows an individual approach – your program is developed following a thorough assessment, according to your needs and to your body’s response to the exercises you are doing. It is not just about improving core strength or fitness.
The exercises included in your program will be targeted to you and your goals and will often be direction specific, depending on where your Physiotherapist determines your body’s “happy place to exercise” is. We will consider any muscle weakness, joint stiffness, balance issues, reduced motor control, along with any previous or current injuries that are impacting on your quality of life.
This results in improved balance, coordination, movement control and function leading to lasting pain reduction and prevention of injury in the longer term.
Our Clinical Pilates programs utilise equipment such as the Reformer, Trapeze Table, Wobble Board, Barrel and small equipment including hand weights, magic circle, resistance band and swiss balls.
Individual sessions and small group classes with up to 3 participants are available.
